Every morning, students rush to get ready for school. Some throw on the first hoodie they see, while others carefully pick out what they want to wear for the day. After getting students’ opinions on this, there was a similar pattern in their answers. The clothes people choose each morning might be influencing their mood and confidence, and even how productive they are during the school day.
This idea brings up an important question, could dressing differently actually change the way people feel and focus during the day?
Sophomore Sarah Igel strongly agrees with this thought.
“I feel more productive during the day when I take the time to get ready because when I feel good I do good,” Igel said.
On the other hand, Lexi Webster shares a different perspective.
“While I would love to wear cute outfits to school, it’s too stressful trying to pick something to wear when I just don’t have enough time. I have noticed I work better when I’m comfortable so I think it’s a lot easier to stick to wearing sweatpants and a sweatshirt,” Webster said.
It seems the morning rush to even wake up and get ready already affects how students feel before they walk into school.
“I feel more organized when I pick my outfit out the night before so it’s all set and ready to go for the next day and I don’t have to stress about it,” Igel said

While every student’s outfit choices are different, many people agree that what you wear can affect how you think and feel for the day.
“I love wearing sweat pants with a nice long sleeve or leggings and a hoodie. I feel best in this because although it isn’t a typically nice outfit, it is comfortable but also not too comfortable enough to not want to be productive,” junior, Emma Graffeo said.
When students feel put together they may be more likely to participate and have an overall positive attitude.
On the other hand, Lexi Webster expresses her thoughts differently.
“I don’t usually take the time to do my hair, makeup, or outfit before school, because I like to spend most of my time on my phone in the morning. I am still confident and productive during the day even though my main priority isn’t picking out outfits the night before,” Webster said
Comfort takes priority for most people. This helps people stay relaxed during the day without worrying about their appearance, so it really depends on what works best for everyone.
“I mostly think that a cute outfit can definitely turn my mood around,” Graffeo said.
