Students of NVD take on tanning

It’s officially tanning season! It’s time to get everyone’s sunscreen, sunglasses, and towels out.

With the start of warm weather, most people are looking for the best tan, however, people do struggle with the boredom that comes with tanning.

While people want that bronze look, it does take long hours laying under the sun when one can be doing something a little more productive. So this is a guide to make tanning fun and enjoyable!

First off, everyone must have a good playlist to play next to them for those good vibes. Music is the one thing that automatically keeps people in a good mood.

Secondly, a good book is always nice to have! When tanning gets boring, people can just turn on their stomachs and tan their backs while reading their favorite book. But, reading may not be for everyone so everyone must find a tanning activity that’s just the fit for them.

If not reading, it could be tanning with friends! If people’s friends like tanning just as much as them, then lay out together and keep each other company. And it’s a bonus if one of them has a pool!

And if one doesn’t have a pool, a kiddie pool is a great way to cool off. On a hot and sunny day, tanning can get exhausting so it’s a must to have a way of cooling off. Maybe even a hose to keep one fresh.

Kailey Attali, a junior at NVD, has her own pool and says that “I love tanning in the summer because I get to swim with friends and I don’t have anything to worry about. It’s relaxing and I feel like I can get out of my head when I tan,” Attali said.

And don’t forget snacks are a necessity as well! If one is looking for the healthy type, vegetables with a side of dip are a great choice. Or maybe a sandwich if it’s close to lunch time.

Attali’s favorite snacks are frozen grapes or fresh lemonade that her mom makes.

Furthermore, it isn’t talked about enough but hydration is key! Laying under the sun for hours on end can be very dehydrating. That’s why everyone must remember to keep a cool water bottle next to them filled to the brim with ice.

And of course, sunscreen to stay safe and protected! If someone’s the type to use tanning oil, then there are also plenty of tanning oils that also include sunscreen in order to stay protected. But sunscreen doesn’t prevent one from getting tan, it just prevents sunburns. Which is important to remember!

While tanning is one of the most popular activities for the summer, people complain about it being very boring. That’s why, either being with friends, reading, going for a swim, or changing up where one tan’s can always make it more exciting.
