Every Olympic season, there have always been outrageous, comical—sometimes both— groan-inducing scandals that have left viewers gasping and scrolling to read more. This year’s Milano Cortina 2026 Olympics was no different. Here are some of the more recent juicy, gossip-inspiring scandals that have been making headlines.
First up, the Canadian curling team’s mishaps with the rock—on both the male and female sides. Though the men were able to scrape by with a win as well as slip by the cheating allegation, the story was different for the women’s team.
“Both the men’s and women’s Canadian curling teams have been accused of double-touching the stone, a form of cheating in curling…despite Eriksson’s accusations, the Canadian team was not penalized and won the match 8–6. The women’s match on Feb. 14 was a different story, with Rachel Homan being called for a rules violation for touching the stone in Canada’s 8–7 loss to Switzerland,” Front Office Sports News said.
As for a more bizarre and slightly—no, extremely eye-opening headline, this one is for the male ski jumpers caught cheating using…penis injections?
“Male ski jumpers are being accused of receiving penis-enlarging injections of hyaluronic acid. The injections are reportedly given before competitors being fit for their suits, with the intent to increase the suit’s surface area,” Front Office Sports said.
As bizarre and strange as it sounds, it seems like it actually does make a difference in the competition.
“During competition, the larger suits would act similarly to a sail, as The Athletic pointed out, helping to boost the distance of skiers’ jumps,” the Front Office Sports added.
To wash that cringe-inducing image from your minds, here’s a fluffier, furrier, more lighthearted scandal—if it can even be called that. During a cross-country skiing preliminary course, a dog that escaped from a nearby Airbnb found its way onto the home stretch of the course.
“Nazgul, the 2-year-old Czechoslovakian wolfdog, appeared on the home stretch of the course, but it did not have a significant impact on any of the skiers or the race,” Front Office Sports said.
Last but not least, one of the more well-known scandals of the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics—the controversy with the US men’s hockey team. Online backlash has been huge after a controversial moment caught on camera.
“President Trump joked about the women’s team having to be invited to the White House, too. The U.S. women also won a gold medal. The U.S. male players were seen laughing at the joke. The American men then got invited and accepted an invitation to visit with President Trump at the White House,” TheSpun said.
Though some members of the team have responded to say they aren’t concerned about backlash and love their country, the controversy is still raging all over social media.
