2026 promises to be the year of movies. There are a range of movies coming out this year and new films coming out for every type of movie lover. Whether people love romance, action, thrillers, or drama, all of these films are creating massive buzz.
One of the most anticipated movies coming out this year is “Avengers: Doomsday.” It’s expected to take over movie theaters with Marvel’s huge fan base.
“I’ve been waiting for Doomsday to come out for so long,” junior Saif Naqvi said.
Another part of a movie series coming out is “Dune: Part Three,” which people hope will reach a powerful conclusion as a final movie. Another action-packed movie is, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” another Marvel movie that will no doubt have the theaters crowded.
Along with those movie continuations, there are even more coming. “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping” has sparked a lot of excitement across the internet, with many curious about the origins of Panem. “The Devil Wears Prada 2” adds to the excitement by continuing a well-loved story from the 2000s starring Anne Hathaway.
“As soon as I saw the behind-the-scenes in Manhattan for the movie on TikTok, I’ve been waiting for the day it comes out to watch!” junior Meva Turegun said.

A family-friendly movie coming out is “Toy Story 5,” which is exciting to those who grew up watching the movies. Speaking of family-friendly, the live-action “Moana” is coming out after a lot of requests from Disney fans over the years.
Music-focused films are a niche category of movies, but there are some to come. “Michael” is being released, which is a musical drama biography made about the life of Michael Jackson.
“It’s very intriguing, I’m hyped to see the information I haven’t heard about [Michael Jackson] before he died,” sophomore Ryder Silleg said.
Another famous pop star who has yet another upcoming movie is Elvis, with “Elvis Presley in Concert.” Many fans will be excited to see it after the movies “Elvis” and “Priscilla” already came out, sparking major controversy about the two.
More action and comedy films coming out with beloved actors include “Matchbox” starring John Cena, “Solo Mio” starring Kevin James, and “Project Hail Mary” starring Ryan Gosling. Another small thriller to look forward to is the movie “How to Make a Killing.” Another exciting sequel coming out is “Scream 7,” which appeals to horror and thriller fans in need of a good movie watch.
“I enjoyed the previous movies, and I think it’s good that they’re reviving old classic movie series,” sophomore Danny Scurro said.
