Summer hues of pink and yellow are quickly giving way to dark oranges, reds, purples, and browns as they take over the fashion world. This season, fall colors are not only bold and vivid, they’re striking and eye-catching. Not only are grass greens and deep purples filling the designer runways, stores like J. Crew, Free People, and Reformation are introducing clothes boasting orange for fall, which hasn’t done well with customers in the past. This year, however, is different.
As cooler weather arrives, NVD students are embracing the fall and are all about comfort and coziness this fall.
“I love dark brown and red,” junior Shelly Koblenz said. “Also gray. There’s different types of gray that all go so well with dark colors for fall.”
Koblenz also expressed her preference for certain stores for the changing seasons.
“Brandy Melville is the best for fall. Everything they make – cardigans, sweaters, sweatpants/shirts – is so cozy,” Koblenz said.
Sophomore Olivia Carpenter had very similar opinions.
“I love Brandy Melville for the fall. All their browns and reds and all the long sleeve stuff. Also, sweatpants and hoodies,” Carpenter said.
Junior Zoe Gatanas also added her thoughts on colors this fall.
“I feel like I wear the same colors every year, so I’m hoping to expand my style and open my wardrobe to different colors and more fun outfits,” Gatanas said.
Koblenz also added that she finds fall favorites from many other popular stores.
“I also love Abercrombie, they make really good sweat stuff. They also have a lot of very cute prints. But their stuff is thick and good quality, which is what I like best,” Koblenz said.
Sophomore Vera Lee also has nothing but positive remarks to state about Brandy Melville and Abercrombie.
“When I’m buying clothes for fall, I want specific colors and styles, and [Brandy Melville and Abercrombie] honestly the best stores for both,” she said. “Collecting basics and a few fun colors just makes picking out outfits for when it gets colder so much easier.”

Brandy Melville and Abercrombie are not the only places NVD students are shopping this fall.
“Aritzia makes the best sweat sets ever. They come in so many colors and styles: wide leg and cuff sweatpants, and crewnecks and hoodies,” Gatanas said.
On the topic of sweat sets, Gatanas also shares her opinions concerning other popular clothing stores.
“Garage is also where I get a lot of hoodies and sweats. They are super comfy and less expensive than Aritzia,” Gatanas said.
