Every year NVD holds a costume contest to see who is the best dressed for Halloween. This year it was held in the North Gym during lunchtime. High school students and even teachers really brought it to the next level surprising the whole school with their creative and original costumes.

Starting off strong, Ryan Shaw dressed up as a sumo duck and won the category for the best individual costume.

Next up, for the duo category, Pablo Hernandez and Sebastian Morales took first place as Walter White and Jesse Pinkman from Breaking Bad.

Lastly, the winners of the group category were Laila Lotfy, Megan Boyes, and Kiera Tam, all dressed up as Perry the Platypus and Dr. Doofenshmirtz from the famous cartoon, Phineas and Ferb.

While the students raised the bar with their unique costumes, certain teachers went all out as well. Every chemistry teacher including Mr. Kane, Dr. Zahos, Mr. Murphy, and Mr. Petrella, wore hazmat suits during the school day. Mr. Klevence also dressed up as Waldo from Where’s Waldo.

It’s amazing to see students and teachers have fun with this holiday and bring joy to others around them. Halloween is a time to be as creative as possible and to bring out everyone’s best costume skills. This year’s winners wiped out the competition with their authentic and clever costumes making it hard to top in the future.
