Fall sports are in full swing this season, with many new coaches this year. The girls soccer team introduced their new head coach, Jaclyn Boselli, along with the boys new football coach, Nick Guttuso. Athletes are eager to continue with the new coaching staff this season.

Goals are to build this program making the transition as smooth as possible” Coach Boselli said.

Boselli emphasized on giving back since she was once a soccer player and she looked up to the coaches and their knowledge of the game. The girls soccer team has a record of 10 wins, 1 tie, and 10 losses.

“Keeping the core fundamentals of soccer and expecting it to be incorporated into everyday practice. I want to compete and have fun while competing,” Coach Boselli said.

This year is Boselli’s first year coaching at Northern Valley Demarest and the girls soccer team is improving every day.

The boys football team has introduced their new head coach Nick Guttuso, who plans to keep the tradition of having football in his life ever since he was young.

“I chose to coach at Demarest because it is a great opportunity to join an excellent high school with a rich tradition of success. Football has been a huge part of my life since I was a little boy. My dad introduced me to the game, by taking me to Giants games and watching football together as a family. Growing up I started playing football in second grade and couldn’t get enough of it,” Guttuso said.

Coach Guttuso played football in high school and was a part of three state championship teams, then he went on to play at Ithaca college where he played in the NCAA playoffs three times.

“I love everything about the game. It teaches teamwork, instills the values of hard work, and teaches young people how to be accountable,” Guttuso said.

The boys are working hard every day and Guttuso is constantly working on game plans, hoping to exceed expectations in the season. The entire team has grown during the course of the season and there has been a steady improvement and growth.
