For many people, music is a part of everyday life. Whether it is on TV, the radio, a video found while scrolling, or playing in their earbuds, humans are naturally drawn and connected to music. Over time, people form specific bonds with bands or singers. These artists become parts of core memories, era indicators, and so much more. However, what happens when those beloved bands disappear? Ranging from indie music to Kpop, over these past few years many bands have risen to fame, only to go on hiatus, leaving fans wondering- when will they come back? Well, this summer millions of fans were pleasantly surprised to hear that some of their favorite bands would come back from hiatus.
In 2022, The Neighbourhood- an indie pop rock band that initially rose to fame in 2013 with their hit single Sweater Weather– announced they would be going on a hiatus due to personal dilemmas. However- to many people’s surprise- on August 29, 2025, the band posted an Instagram story stating they would be returning from their hiatus after a long reflection of their history.
“In November 2021, after 10 years together, The Neighbourhood went on an indefinite hiatus,” the band shared in their Instagram story, “ …In November 2024, the five of us reunited in the studio. Thank you to everyone who kept the music alive while we were away. We couldn’t feel more honored to do what we do and can’t wait to share this next chapter with you.”

However, this return has sparked some controversy due to the fact that one of the causes of the hiatus was later revealed to involve the band’s drummer- Brandon Fried after allegations made against him by Maria Zardoya- the lead singer of the band The Marias.
While at the time the band claimed Fried would no longer be a member, they seem to have retracted their statement, leaving fans to question the morality of the band.
While The Neighbourhood chose to go on a hiatus, some bands- such as the hit KPop boy band BTS- had no choice but to take a break. In 2022, one by one, each member of the band was drafted to complete military service due to their obligations as South Koreans.
“I’ll faithfully serve and come back … Please stay healthy and let’s meet all again in 2025!” band member Suga said on the fan communication platform known as Weverse.
Nearly three years later, in June of 2025, the last member of the group was discharged from his service, allowing the band to make an announcement stating they would be regrouping and were planning an upcoming tour for 2026.
“Starting in July, all seven of us will begin working closely together on new music,” the group shared, as per ABC News, “Since it will be a group album, it will reflect each member’s thoughts and ideas. We’re approaching the album with the same mindset we had when we first started.”

Finally, considered one of the most iconic rock bands of the 90’s, the famous band Radiohead made their comeback on September 3, announcing their European and UK tour for late 2025 after not performing since 2018.
“Last year, we got together to rehearse, just for the hell of it,” drummer Phil Selway said in a statement as per Yahoo, “After a seven-year pause, it felt really good to play the songs again and reconnect with a musical identity that has become lodged deep inside all five of us.”
With all of these nostalgic bands from core eras of this generation returning, fans are awaiting new media to enjoy again- and they’re never going back.
