On May 14, 2025, the coastal and quiet town of Watch Hill, Rhode Island, was shocked by a disturbing discovery. Police found what appeared to be a human leg bone near the holiday home of Taylor Swift, a popular singer and songwriter. This incident has sparked concern in residents across the New England area, where there have also been multiple human remains uncovered in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut, all within 50 miles of each other.
Authorities have stated that there was “no foul play” suspected, meaning that the remains are not a result of murder or intentional death in this incident. The remains have been sent to the Rhode Island Medical Exam Office to be further analyzed. The Rhode Island State Police have yet to make any arrests or conclusions on the case, as they have yet to identify who the remains belong to.
The discovery has drawn even more negative attention to one of the world’s most popular singers and celebrities, Taylor Swift, as she has been involved in a legal case between actors Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, according to Yahoo News. Fans are worried, saying that Swift is getting herself into more trouble, however, there are no legal accusations regarding the human remains at this time.

This incident is one of many across the New England area, where over twelve cases of human remains have been found in neighboring states, according to Fox News. While the cases are not officially connected, the public is worried that there is a “New England serial killer”on the loose and there is a pattern in these deaths.
However, authorities urge that the public should stay calm and do their best to brush off and pay no attention to the rumors about a serial killer.
“As far as I’m concerned, as far as right now, this has nothing to do with any serial killer [or] any New England murderer,” Paul Gingerella, Westerly Police Chief said to Fox News.
As the public awaits further details, police promise the public that this investigation is their top priority and they will reach a conclusion as soon as possible.
Hampden County District Attorney Anthony Gulluni said to Fox News, “Unverified claims can compromise active investigations and contribute to a sense of chaos that does not reflect the full picture.”
