Before the seniors head off to WBL, for one last hoorah, they all dress up for spirit week! The themes include decades, frat, Western, commitment, and Norsemen Day.
Every day, the seniors show up in their best costumes to show who’s got the most spirit. Even though it’s bittersweet that high school is coming to an end, spirit week brings everyone together for one last time.
On Monday, for the decades theme, most girls showed up in early 2000’s Juicy Couture tracksuits with chunky sneakers and big hoop earrings. This year, some students stepped it up by dressing like 70’s disco and the 80’s Barbie workout outfits with neon leggings and one-piece tops. The hallways were filled with a colorful mix of throwback styles.
“I loved this theme because even though we are in the 20th century, it was fun having a throwback moment,” senior Izzy Sun said.
The next theme turned heads. While the boys stayed in their typical attire of polos and backwards hats, the girls surprised the rest of the school by pulling off the fraternity brother look. The halls looked like a college frat house apocalypse, but everyone was loving the upbeat energy.
“It was really funny seeing the girl dress up as a fraternity and see what their perception of frat brothers are,” senior Dylan Distelburger said.
On Wednesday, for the western theme, students walked in with smiles on their faces and cowboy boots on their feet. A lot of the seniors came into the lot blasting Morgan Wallen or Zack Bryan to really get in the mood for the country theme. Some students went above and beyond with bandanas, belts, and all denim. The day felt like a mini rodeo with southern spirits high.
Thursday was a sad full-circle moment. All seniors who are committed to or attending college after high school wore shirts and outfits representing the school they will be heading off to. It was a wholesome day with friends taking pictures on the staircase and teachers congratulating their students past and present.
“I remember being a freshman wondering why the seniors would dress up for a week, and now I am the senior confusing the underclassmen,” Sun said.
To wrap up the week, the halls were flooded with NVD spirit! For the last day, the seniors took one last time to take pride in the Norsemen nation. Most students wore different pinnies or just plain school merch with blue and white. The energy was high, and it was the perfect send-off before WBL.
“Now it’s time to enjoy my last high school moments with my classmates, but spirit week was a great kick off,” Distelberger said.
