Haworth may be a small town, but it has a lot to offer. Making up the smallest percentage of the NVD population, Haworth is typically overlooked. However, its downtown area is a hidden gem.
Within the town of Haworth live restaurants Alessandro’s, Rugile’s, Guzzo’s, Humphrey’s, and Graze Craze, all with their own speciality to offer. Students at NVD share their opinions on the abundance of restaurants in downtown Haworth.
Humphrey’s Coffee is a small cafe which offers a variety of drinks, pastries, and desserts. Junior Cayla Sul is a frequent flyer of the little shop.
“It’s really convenient to go during my free’s. I even find myself choosing Humphrey’s over bigger chains like Starbucks and Dunkin. I prefer the food and drinks,” Sul said.
Sophomore Reese Schulman shares a similar love for the small coffee bar.
“While Starbucks and Dunkin can’t be beat, I like the ambiance better at Humphrey’s. When I’m with my friends or need to work, I’m more likely to choose Humphrey’s,” Schulman said.
While Humphrey’s is beloved, sophomore Zara Wiley’s personal favorite restaurant in Haworth is NatuRoll Sushi. They are a family owned business which strives to serve traditional Japanese cuisine. Their menu consists of types of sushi, sashimi, udon, and hosomaki.
“I go there a lot with my family. I love crab rolls and I think they have the best one out of all the sushi places around here,” Wiley said.
Haworth has so much to offer ranging from cute coffee shops to high quality pizza places. Sophomore Emma Wagner visits downtown Haworth to enjoy Italian cuisine at Alessandro’s. Their menu consists of soups, salads, pizza, pasta, calzones, sandwiches, and other traditional Italian dishes.
“My favorite place in downtown Haworth is Allesandros. I’ve been there a couple times with my friends for pizza,” Wagner said.
Schulman feels passionate about the quality of food at Allesandro’s.
“Their pizza is better than any other local place. My family and I are big supporters of Allesandros,” Schulman said.
Continuing on the trend that Haworth is widely diverse in its food offerings, another popular restaurant in downtown Haworth is Guzzo’s. The restaurant is open for brunch and lunch and some of the menu favorites include omelets, pancakes, and specialty sandwiches. Sophomores Aliyah Hochron and Gil Reshef love the small cafe.
“I’ve been with my friends and I really like their smoothies,” Reshef said.
Hochron agrees that Guzzo’s is great, sharing a similar perspective.
“While I don’t go frequently, I liked everything about Guzzo’s. The food and ambiance was really good,” Hochron said.
Haworth might be small, but its food selection is not. Next time you are struggling to decide where to eat, whether with friends or family, consider Haworth downtown – it has a lot to offer!
