As the swim season comes to an end, both the girls and boys team of NVD swimmers wrap up another year of success. This year, the Norsemen performed exceptionally, winning leagues for the first time in five years, then continuing onto states.
The swim team members have also been working harder, and showing vast improvement with their times.
“I definitely have improved time wise, I made the top ten list of fastest times in NVD four times this season. I also got third overall in the two free at the BMOC (Bergen Meet of Champions),” Trianha Puente, girls swim team captain said.
Other swimmers showed off their accomplishments, breaking new records for themselves and setting new goals.

Freshman Lauren Szukics explains that she was injured for a majority of the season, but still pulled through due to her supportive environment.
“As a freshman on the swim team, I adapted pretty well because my teammates were very supportive and helpful throughout the process. When I tore my knee, I thought I would never swim well again, but my teammates and coach motivated me to do well,” Szukics said.

The swim team fought hard to win all throughout the season. Some of their hardest challenges were swimming against Ramsey, Tenafly, and making leagues.
“Winning leagues and beating Ramsey 4 peat was a huge accomplishment to our team as it was a very tough battle to fight for,” junior Andrew Lee said.
NVD swim’s Coach Kilduff, explains the team’s toughest meet and how proud he is of the swimmers successes.
“Our most successful meet was against Tenafly, which was a massive upset because we didn’t expect to win, but we got really lucky,” Kilduff said.
Overall, this year’s swimmers are very proud of themselves and their team for their advancement and qualifications for states.
“NVD has come a long way since last year, and the new members this year are very talented. We are definitely gonna be seeing more of these wins!” Branecky said.
