With the decisive conclusion of the 2025 NFL Super Bowl, football fans around NVD feel emotions varying from disappointment and annoyance to pleasure and satisfaction based on the teams they supported during the game. The absolute decimation of the Kansas City Chiefs by the Philadelphia Eagles through a score of 22-40 provided amusement for some, disgust for others, and some didn’t care much for the game at all and hated both teams participating.
For instance, NVD junior Lucas Ahn didn’t care so much about the Chiefs winning as much as the Philadelphia Eagles losing.
“I wanted the Chiefs to win because I hate the Eagles; I’m a Giants fan and the Eagles are in our division, and they stole Saquon Barkley, I hate the tush push, I hate their players, and I hate their team in general,” Ahn said of Philadelphia.
This sentiment has been shared throughout NVD with the thoughts of the many NY Giants fans present, and these fans show clear attitudes of frustration and anger at the Chief’s horrible performance that allowed the Giants’ rival to win, regardless of the fact that they had cheered for them.
“I realized during the game that I couldn’t trust the Chiefs to win, and that they are fraudulent ref merchants,” Ahn said.
As for Eagles supporters, not all were incredibly invested in the Super Bowl aside from monetary reasons. NVD junior Cassandra Vega explains her temporary Eagles fandom and how underwhelmed she was by their opposition during the game.
“My family and I put money on the Eagles, we don’t understand sports betting but chose them to bet on because we wanted to and really like birds,” Vega said.
Even though Eagles supporters like Vega may have enjoyed watching the Chiefs be blown out and their money secured, she is still confused by the sheer incompetence of Kansas City and wonders why the game was so one-sided.

“I think it’s all Patrick Mahomes fault. He’s such a big name and everyone expected him to do well, but he kept getting interceptions and did poorly in general. He basically threw the game himself,” Vega said.
The 18-point differential in the Super Bowl was surprising to most, and Cassandra Vega provides her initial expectations for the game that were proven false.
“Initially I thought the Chiefs were to win because they seem to always be in the Super Bowl, and they have bigger names than the Eagles so I thought they would do better,” Vega said.
However, most NVD-centric fans carried the stance that they didn’t much care about who won the game whatsoever and merely wanted both teams to lose in embarrassing fashion. NVD junior Hyeon Jin Chung provides an explanation of what he wanted to happen during the game.
“Frankly, I just prayed for a meteor to come down hurtling down onto the stadium, eliminating both teams from the chance of winning a Super Bowl,” Chung said.
Even though Chung disliked both teams in the Super Bowl, he claims to have predicted the blowout coming all along.
“Well, the Eagles had a dominant defensive line and one of the best offensive lines in football, and their use of star wide receivers AJ Brown and Devonta Smith paired with MVP-candidate Saquon Barkley the running back I always thought that they would destroy the Chiefs,” Chung said.
Representing many NVD students who feel similar to him, Chung expresses why he and many NFL fans disliked both teams and didn’t want anyone on either team to feel joy.
“The Eagles’ fans are really annoying. I don’t like the Chiefs because their fans are spoiled by winning, and the refs are always calling games in their favor which makes the league unfair,” Chung said.
Echoing this sentiment is Lucas Ahn, “I said before that the Eagles are evil. And even though I wanted the Chiefs to win, they’re completely fraudulent. Brady never would have choked like that,” Ahn said.
As for why these NVD students believed the Chiefs lost in such a fashion 22-40 (with the score being 0-34 at one point in the game), most attributed the loss to terrible teamplay and a bad showing all around.
“Patrick Mahomes was mainly the reason why they lost, I think that he led their team poorly and they underperformed because of it,” Vega said.
“The Eagles just played a lot better than the Chiefs and they were dominant in every way,” Chung said.
While the 2025 Super Bowl stayed uninteresting for many NFL fans due to the nature of its blowout, several NVD students were still able to express their enjoyment or stake in the game that kept it exciting even if they ended up sad or happy with the result.
