Every year on October 31st the Northern Valley Demarest Varsity Club holds a Halloween costume competition during lunch. At 11:00 a.m. in the North Gym, any student who is interested in joining the competition is welcome to participate.
The categories are best group, best duo, and best individual costume. Anyone who participates presents their costume to the students in the North Gym, and later a vote is held to see who wins. This is a fun activity for people to do with their friends and bring entertainment to everyone eating lunch. Demarest wants to keep fun optional activities given to the students and make Halloween exciting.
The Demarest varsity volleyball team participates every year in which all of the seniors choose costumes for the underclassman to wear. This has been a tradition for many years and will continue in 2023. This is an exciting way for the volleyball team to exchange in team bonding while also getting festive for Halloween.
In 2022 the seniors decided to dress up the underclassmen as Minions. In 2021 the underclassmen were dressed up as frogs with green face paint all over their faces. This has been a tradition that the volleyball team continues to do each year. This year the underclassman on the volleyball team dressed up as traffic cones while the seniors dressed up as construction workers.
